Every fall, the mundane lives of the average folk are interrupted by a sudden burst of excitement. An excitement that livens up a Sunday afternoon living room and brings family and friends together while simultaneously pulling them apart.
It’s time for the NFL to reenter the American family scene, and with this year, it’s what sports fans have needed the most.
Coming into this season, there are a lot of points of conversation. Future hall of fame quarterback, Tom Brady, has finally left his frigid home in Foxborough and traded the cold winds of Massachusetts for the sunny beaches of Tampa, FL. Brady brings with him the aways electric tight end Rob Gronkowski to complete the dynamic, Super-Bowl winning duo, formerly of New England.
As for other headlines, you’ll see the Dallas Cowboys carry a team that has been reloaded on both sides of the ball. With the addition of wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and defensive players such as defensive tackle Dontari Poe and defensive end Everson Griffin, Dallas can look to give first-year head coach, Mike McCarthy, a fresh start with the team. McCarthy, former head coach of the Green Bay Packers, coached the Packers to a Super Bowl win in 2010 as well as eight additional postseason appearances and hopes to have the same success in Dallas.
For the New Orleans Saints, questions were looming when it looked as though star running back Alvin Kamara would not be returning to the team for the 2020 season. However, as the Saints look to extend Kamara, the season looks bright as the team brings back all of their pieces for another run in the playoffs with Drew Brees at the helm.
One of the biggest points of excitement and the biggest question mark of the season comes out of Cincinnati. Former Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton has found a new home as the backup quarterback in Dallas behind Dak Prescott. The hole will be filled by none other than Heisman winner and 2019 NCAA National Champion, Joe Burrow out of LSU. Many Heisman winners have difficulty finding success in the NFL. However, with the recent successes of Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson and Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray, Burrow looks to add his name to the list of successful Heisman-winning quarterbacks.
There are many things to look forward to this upcoming Sunday. If this season is anything like the last, expect to be on the edge of your seat until February.
