LitCon celebrates the field of humanities

By Ethan Lachney

NSU hosted its third annual LitCon event at the Orville Hanchey Gallery on Apr. 12 and 13.

The convention was presented as a celebration of the humanities and included various workshops and presentations highlighting the importance of the written, as well as spoken, word.

In addition to lectures and panels featuring local and national professionals, NSU professors shared their own knowledge on numerous humanities topics.

Dr. Allison Rittmayer moderated a film workshop, while event coordinator Rebecca Macijeski hosted various creative writing workshops.

NSU students were also given the opportunity to showcase their various works and talents. Members of the Alpha Beta Alpha hosted a panel on behalf of the National Library Science Fraternity. Various students read poetry and short stories throughout as well.

The event also served as a book and art fair, giving artists and authors the opportunity to sell their pieces.

LitCon was produced by Northwestern State University’s Department of English, Foreign Languages, and Cultural Studies.
